An opportunity has arisen for an experienced software engineer to join an elite company in the automotive industry. You will play a leading technical role in their project collaborating with other teams as well as colleagues to engineer their success.
Key Objectives ľ Prepares Product feature and system extension briefs, through customer visits, use case analysis and requirements validation ľ Prepares design specification documentation for major subsystem and component developments. ľ Provides best practice system architecture design and analysis skills for all tasks undertaken. ľ Implements required subsystems to process and procedure, inclusive of unit test records ľ Supports integration validation and systems assurance functions. ľ Act a reference and consultant to team members. ľ Provide periodic assistance to new project work definition phases. ľ The role will require international travel to customer sites to assist requirements capture, system installation, commissioning acceptance and bug fixes. ľ The role may require flexible approach to working hours due to the nature of business and geographic distribution of worldwide customer base. ľ The role will benefit from a basic understanding of automotive systems, product test philosophies and production line processes.
Skills and Experience ľ Must have proven experience in delivering subsystem developments to large-scale and dependable solutions ľ Must be accustomed to working on project teams using shared code bases accessible through configuration management systems. ľ Must have proven ability to fulfil tasks inline with project requirements, quality levels and planning. ľ Must have a high degree of customer focus, urgency and thoroughness when dealing with raised issues and concerns.
Programming and Implementation: ľ Proficiency in C / C++ Language ľ Proficiency in Win32 System programming including Processes, Multi-threading, DLL, Services, Sockets, File System, Security and COM models. ľ XML & XPath technologies ľ Use of class libraries.
The additional technical items are of interest but not essential for this role
ƒæ Database design concepts ¡V SQL Query, Stored Procedures and Views under SQL2000 or Oracle 8/9i ƒæ Linux PC based systems in general ƒæ Java language & Eclipse Development. ƒæ Microsoft .NET Framework in general ƒæ PC Hardware and Configuration ƒæ IT Skills, Networking, OS Client and Server Installs and troubleshooting.
